Meet Cathy Armstrong, MS, LPC-S, RN, Rev

Licensed Professional Counselor Supervisor

* PhD in spiritual and religious studies, non-secular, apart from the mental health field, focus on interfaith ministry, Divine Intervention, the power of prayer, hope, faith, and love for all people and all paths.

In addition to my counseling and hypnosis work, I also help facilitate a Recovery Dharma community group, where we explore the Buddhist teachings of the Four Noble Truths as a framework for healing. These truths invite us to look honestly at the nature of suffering and how it shows up in our lives, to see that craving and clinging often deepen our pain, to recognize that freedom from suffering is possible, and to practice the path of mindful awareness and compassion that supports recovery.

The Four Noble Truths

  • Suffering exists – Life brings pain, stress, and dissatisfaction.
  • Suffering has causes – Craving, clinging, and old habits keep us stuck.
  • Freedom is possible – We can release suffering and find peace.
  • The path leads us there – Mindfulness, compassion, and wise action support recovery.

The Eightfold Path

  • Wise Understanding – seeing clearly what leads to suffering and what leads to freedom.
  • Wise Intention – committing to kindness, compassion, and letting go of harmful behaviors.
  • Wise Speech – practicing honesty and non-harming communication.
  • Wise Action – living in a way that reduces harm.
  • Wise Livelihood – supporting yourself in ways that don’t cause suffering.
  • Wise Effort – developing healthy habits and letting go of harmful ones.
  • Wise Mindfulness – being present with awareness in daily life.
  • Wise Concentration – strengthening focus and meditation practice.

I began my professional career as a registered nurse, where I developed a deep appreciation for the connection between physical health, emotional well-being, and overall quality of life. I started meditating at the age of 17 and began to become interested in nutrition and the mind, body , spirit connection. My passion for helping others heal on multiple levels led to my pursuet of advanced training in holistic nursing, hypnotherapy, spiritual healing and mental health. Later I  became a Licensed Professional Counselor Supervisor in Texas.

With a lifelong interest in holistic wellness and neuroscience, I sought to create a truly integrative practice — one that honors the mind, body, and spirit. I  expanded my studies to include a doctorate in religious and spiritual studies (in a field outside of counseling) and became an ordained minister. This additional background allows me to offer clients optional spiritual and values-based perspectives alongside evidence-based counseling methods, always respecting each client’s personal beliefs and preferences. I have studied world religions, metaphysics, shamanic healing, Christian & Jewish mysticism, and multicultural healing practices.

Today, I provide a compassionate, whole-person approach to counseling, weaving together professional mental health care with mind-body tools and, when desired, culturally & spiritually-informed support.

My Beliefs

• Healing happens when we feel safe, seen, and spiritually connected

• You are not broken—you are becoming

• We are each a reflection of the divine

• The body holds wisdom that no book can teach

• True freedom comes from remembering who you are beneath fear, grief, or old patterns
